Biography:
Robert Kelly did not get his big break, ironically enough, on the Big Break television show. Although he and his R&B group, MGM, won the show's national talent contest, the hype soon dissipated and Robert was left to his own devices. Kelly, who was born on Chicago's south side in 1969, possessed plenty of persistence, and with the help of manager Barry Hankerson he was soon serving as musical co-coordinator/producer for the likes of Gladys Knight and Aaliyah.
